    I noticed that the WDW railroad is closed. Will they still do the MK opening ceremonies without the train? Are there opening things @ other parks?

    Hi Amanda ~

    There is nothing like starting a magical day at the Magic Kingdom than arriving early for the Magic Kingdom Welcome Show! They are indeed still doing the the Magic Kingdom Welcome Show even though the Walt Disney World Railroad is currently closed for enhancements. We were at the Magic Kingdom last weekend and saw it. The train does not pull into the station but the characters do appear on the platform and welcome Guests to the Magic Kingdom.

    The Magic Kingdom Welcome Show typically takes place 15 - 20 minutes prior to park opening depending on what time the park opens. You can find the schedule for the day you plan to visit by clicking on the link provided above. Once you reach that page, you will see the time for the current date and a small calendar icon. Click on that icon and select your date of visit and it should bring up the time. Be sure to check back just before your trip in case the schedule changes.

    The other parks do start the day with a smaller opening and welcoming. Sometimes Guests are selected to participate or some extra pixie dust is sprinkled to some lucky Guests. The Magic Kingdom Welcome Show is the best. If you have never seen it, I'd highly recommend it. It is really cute and a great way to start off a magical day.
