Hi! I have noticed recently that servers are adding automatic gratuity to parties that are less than 6 people. Has the policy at Disney changed? I’m an annual passholder if this policy changed for passholders omly maybe?

Hello, Kim, thanks for reaching out to us here at planDisney.

Oh, dining at the Walt Disney World Resort. How I love thee. Let me count the ways as I pluck the petals off a flower. The fragrant wafts of delicious delicacies. The glow of the atmosphere, where every corner tells a tale divine. The smiles of the Cast Members as warm as a summer's day. A feast of flavors, both bold and bright. Well, lucky for you, I ran out of petals. But I'm sure you can imagine that I could go on and on.

Currently, at table-service restaurants at the Walt Disney World Resort, gratuity is typically applied to parties of 6 or more for all Guests, not just Annual Passholders. If you notice that gratuity is automatically being applied to a smaller party, politely inquire about it with the server when you receive the bill. Personally, I always tip at least 18% (typically 20%), but it's always good to get clarification.

Kim, which restaurants are you most excited to try on your next visit to the resort? I can't wait to check out The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant by Gwendolyn Rogers, especially now that they've started their Roses of Gold Afternoon Tea. My husband and I love a good tea service, and this place looks so charming, I don't know that we can resist! Pinkies up!

Enjoy all of your dining experiences, and be sure to reach out again with any other questions!

Put our service to the test,
