Hi. I noticed on one of your posts you were talking about a rental car. You mentioned that it was only$79 for the week. I was wondering what car rental place that was from. Thanks.

My great rate was through National using a now expired discount code.

I like to use National because of the ease in which I can modify my reservation with new discount codes. I frequently change my reservation (even up to the night before we leave on vacation) to reflect new deals which I find by searching for discounts.

I monitor deals on National’s website, as well as through MouseSavers.com. Sites such as rentalcodes.com, fatwallet.com and retailmenot.com are great resource tools. I book online where National lets customers often use more than one discount together such as a last minute special offer and a coupon code.

Unfortunately, I have not found any deal as cost-effective as that $79 rate over the last year. Car rental deals can also be found on priceline.com.

Certainly comparison shopping with other rental agencies will help keep your cost lower.

We like National because we have the option of picking our rental up conveniently on-site at the Orlando International airport (or the WDW Dolphin Resort) as well as choosing the vehicle we like from the Emerald Aisle. Emerald Club members can by-pass the desk in the airport and go directly to the Emerald Aisle, select a car and drive up to the booth. A simple check-out process and we are on our way to WDW!

Another cost-saving measure that we have used is to take Disney’s Magical Express to and from the airport. This cuts out two days needed for rental.

We try to time the pick up of our rental for after lunch on our first touring day. My husband heads to the Dolphin resort to pick up the car while my son and I return to the hotel for our mid-day break If leaving a park, my husband simply utilizes the most convenient transportation provided to the Dolphin. If we are at Epcot or the Hollywood Studios, he can even walk there! On our last touring day, he simply returns the car to the Dolphin.

Best wishes for finding reasonable rates!
