Hi - I noticed that Kona Cafe at the Polynesian is only showing reservation availability for the next few weeks. Will that restaurant be closed in August/September?

Aloha, Jill! Thanks for stopping by planDisney and sharing your question with us.

The Polynesian Village Resort is one of the best resorts at Walt Disney World, so I’m thrilled to answer your question. And I often say that Kona Cafe is one of the most underrated Disney restaurants, so I’m extra-thrilled to look into this.

I’m happy to report that I can’t find any information about Kona Cafe being closed in the near future (although it’s important to remember that that sort of thing is always subject to change). Table service reservations can be made 60 days in advance of your visit, and when I look at the Kona Cafe reservation calendar, I see availability through August and into September. Woo hoo! It’s entirely possible that the calendar didn’t update, or there was some other internet glitch, but you should have no issue making a reservation at your 60-day mark.

If you continue to have issues with the reservations calendar, I’d recommend calling (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463 to speak with a friendly Cast Member.

There are so many fantastic dining options at the Polynesian Village Resort. ‘Ohana is a great option for families and large groups, and the pulled pork nachos at Captain Cook’s are one of my favorite quick-service meals. Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is one of my favorite places in the whole world and one of my must-dos when visiting the resort. Tell the skippers at Trader Sam’s that Matt from planDisney sent you…and they will have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.

Best of luck with your vacation planning, Jill. I hope you’re able to get all your dining reservations and that you have an amazing visit to Walt Disney World. Pop right back to planDisney if you have any other questions.

    Magical travels!

    Matt
