I have noticed that a credit card is needed for character meal reservations. One even requires payment in full at the time of reservation. Does this apply to those of us who have purchased the meal plan with our vacation?

    Hi Angela,

At some of the more popular character dining experiences credit cards are, indeed, needed to secure a reservation.  My thought is that this is to discourage guests who might be tempted to make multiple reservations and forget to cancel.

My experience is that even though they take your credit card number, it won't be charged unless you fail to show up for your reservation.  When you're at the restaurant, you simply tell the server that you are on the dining plan, and your meal credits will be used.

I'm not sure which reservation requires payment in full, but I would think you could get the charges reversed.  Your best bet would be to call 407-WDW-DINE and speak to a cast member when securing this reservation.  They will probably be able to help you best.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
