I noticed when booking our upcoming trip that for children the age range jumps from “Infant” to “2 years old” with no option for “1 year old” (my niece will be 1 when we check in). I selected “infant” but should I have chosen “2 years old”? Thanks!

    Hi Megan,

Welcome back to planDisney! It's always nice to help friends who have found our answers useful in the past. And how exciting that you are planning a visit with your extended family, including a little one.

You have registered correctly. Any child under the age of 2 fits into the "infant" category at Walt Disney World. As with all children who haven't reached their third birthdays, your niece will not need a ticket for admission to the theme parks or to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, if your family attends that special event.

She will eat free at any buffet or all-you-care-to-eat restaurant, such as Chef Mickey's or the meals with Winnie the Pooh and his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood at Crystal Palace. Just make sure, as you did on your resort reservation, that you include her in your party size to be sure there's room at your table and in the restaurant.

I loved visiting Walt Disney World when my daughter was the age of your niece. She lit up when she saw all the characters and loved riding Dumbo, it's a small world, Living with the Land, Kilimanjaro Safaris and all the rides and attractions that are friendly for guests of any height, including preschoolers.

And, by the time of your visit, Bluey and Bingo will be greeting their fans in the newly reimagined Conservation Station at Animal Kingdom, and the new Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! stage show at Hollywood Studios will have little ones -- and probably their adult companions -- singing and dancing with Mickey and the gang. Such fun for everyone!

Thanks for checking in with us with your questions, Megan. Please let us know if you have others as your visit with your family nears.

    Enjoy every magical moment,

    Wilma
