Welcome back to planDisney, Amy!
I see that your visit to
Walt Disney World is right around the corner--you must be so excited!
Those boat docks you see around World Showcase in
EPCOT are one of the many types of
Walt Disney World Water Transportation; in this case, these docks are for what's lovingly known as FriendShip Launches. When in service, these brief, leisurely cruises offer Guests the ability to travel from one dock to another, circling all of World Showcase while providing a lovely water view of the various pavilions. With stops in Canada, Germany, Mexico, and Morocco, some Guests find the convenience of water travel a nice change of pace from the usual stroll through each country. We've found the FriendShip Launches to be particularly helpful when little ones' legs were tired and we needed to get from Morocco to Mexico. It's a gentle journey and a nice respite after a day filled with park fun.
As Walt Disney World continues its phased reopening of its theme parks and
Resort hotels, some services may not yet be available; this includes some methods of transportation, such as the FriendShip Launches. For the most up-to-date information regarding current offerings throughout the parks and resorts, check out this helpful post
Parks and Tickets: Know Before You Go. There, you'll find updates regarding transportation, utilizing the
Disney Park Pass system, entertainment offerings, and so much more.
While continuing to pack pixie dust into your park plans for The Most Magical Place on Earth, be sure to send additional questions our way, Amy. We love to help!
