Hi there, Geralyn!
Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question!
As a proud
Annual Passholder and an avid collector of the super-cute Annual Passholder magnets, I, too, am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my 2021 Orange Bird Annual Passholder magnet!
Originally appearing in 1970, Orange Bird was created as a mascot for the Florida Citrus Commission. (I originally appeared in 1970 as well, so Orange Bird and I are the same age!) While fading into the background for a period of time, Orange Bird was brought back into the limelight by Tokyo Disneyland in the early 2000s, and then had a grand return to
Sunshine Tree Terrace in Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World in 2012. Guests old and new have fallen in love with the little orange fellow, and I personally know a few Orange Bird superfans. Merchandise featuring Orange Bird was quite the hot ticket item at this year's
Taste of Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival! There's even a mural featuring Orange Bird at
Disney Springs, which is a favorite photo spot for Guests.
Fun Fact: I've heard that inside
Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen, you can find a book on one of the bookshelves with the title "Native Orange Birds of the Southeastern United States". The author's name is Dr. Sid Truss. Sid Truss = Citrus! This little nod to the origins of Orange Bird as a mascot for the Florida Citrus Commission is such a fun little hidden gem inside this dining location in Adventureland in
Magic Kingdom Park. Check it out on your next visit!
No need to worry, your Orange Bird Passholder magnet should soon be on the way. The magnets are due to be mailed out to active Passholders in early summer (limit 2 magnets per household). Make sure to confirm or update your current mailing address by following these steps for each adult Passholder in your household:
1) Sign in to your MyDisneyExperience account.
2) Select "Profile".
3) Select "Contact Information".
4) Confirm that your mailing address is correct, or make any changes necessary.
Hopefully soon, that cute little Orange Bird will be flying into our mailboxes!
