Not sure what to do? We are visiting in 3 weeks, staying at Wilderness w DH & 2DD (5 & 7). All of a sudden I feel we should stay at the Polynesian to get a more tropic feel? Money not an option at this point. Confused.

    Hi Allison!

What a dilemma! While I do feel that Disney's Polynesian Resort is worth every extra penny it costs to stay there, I also love the quiet, tucked-away feel of Disney's Wilderness Lodge.

If money is no object, I say go ahead and splurge on the Polynesian! With two monorails at your doorstep (the Transportation & Ticket Center and Epcot monorail is just a short walk from one end of the Polynesian's grounds) allowing you quick and easy access to two theme parks, as well as a boat option to Magic Kingdom, you really can't beat the Polynesian's "location, location, location!" The fantastically themed Nanea Volcano pool area is great fun and the added HUGE bonus of being able to watch the Wishes fireworks right from the beach make this resort such an easy choice to say "yes" to!

That being said, after staying at Disney's Wilderness Lodge for the first time last year for my 40th birthday, I quickly fell in love. Rooms are a bit smaller here but brighter (I find the rooms at the Poly to be quite dark although very spacious). Another few tidbits to consider with Wilderness Lodge's rooms are the 'queen plus bunk bed' rooms (handy for me with a teen & tween boy and girl!) and the bathroom set-up having the sink and mirror outside the bathroom itself (shower and toilet inside behind closed door). Compare this set-up to the Polynesian where you'll have 2 queen size beds plus a daybed and the bathroom is fully contained (sink, shower and toilet all behind closed door).

Both properties have a fabulous pool with water slide, great dining options, children's activity centers on site and proximity to Magic Kingdom. If you have additional questions about either property, feel free to write me back. I'd be happy to help you make your decision.

Wishing you a simply Magical time at Walt Disney World!
