We are not staying on WDW resort, therefore we are renting a car to travel around by. I am trying to plan our itinerary and dinner reservations and am not sure how to factor in the travel times (using our rental car) b/t MK and DTD, as well as AK to DTD.

    Hi, Jeanette!

Whenever you want approximate travel times, you might want to check out one of my favorite resources:  the Transportation Wizard at OurLaughingPlace.com.  You select Point A and Point B from drop down menus and the Wizard will give you your drive time.

From both Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom to Downtown Disney, drive time is about 20 minutes.  (Does not include time to get from the gates of the park to your car.)  Because you will want to allow time any traffic you might encounter, as well as finding parking at Downtown Disney and walking to your restaurant, add extra time for your commute.  To be safe, plan to be in your car on your way to Downtown Disney a good 35 - 45 minutes prior to your reservation.

There are so many great dining locations in Downtown Disney!  Enjoy!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
