Hi there, Alyssa! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. Your trip to the most magical place on earth is only a few short months away. I bet you are getting so excited.
At this time, Alyssa, if you are not staying at one of the
Disney Resorts Collection Hotels you are not able to directly link your debit/credit card to your
MagicBand for use at the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. When purchasing something you'll need to use cash, a card or a Disney gift card. When ordering at select quick-service dining locations, you may be required to use Mobile Ordering via the MyDisneyExperience app and that will also use your debit/credit card or a Disney gift card.
Your MagicBand will still work to get you into the Walt Disney World Theme Parks and to grab your photos from photopass photographers and select attractions. If you don't want to use a MagicBand at all since you cannot make chargers with it, that's okay too! You can now enter the Walt Disney World Theme Parks by adding your theme park admission ticket to your smartphone using the new
Disney MagicMobile service. If you'd like to do this, you'll need to download the
MyDisneyExperience app to your smartphone device. Then open the app and sign in. Open up the menu options by selecting the three horizontal lines on the bottom right-hand corner of your screen. Next, you'll click on the Disney MagicMobile option and it will walk you through how to add your tickets to the wallet of your phone. On the day you've arrived at the Walt Disney World Theme Park all you have to do is hold your phone near the Mickey at the entrance, click the side button on your phone twice and this will send your ticket to the machine. When Mickey lights up green, you are good to go and enjoy the day. It's really a neat service. On iPhones, you can even use this service when your phone has no battery life left for up to four hours. Technology is pretty cool!
Alyssa, I'm sorry there isn't a better solution for you and you'll need to carry some form of money with you while you are visiting the Walt Disney World Theme Parks in August. If you have any other questions before you go, please feel free to stop back by and
ask me. I'm happy to help.
