We are not staying at the resort but can we park at the Polynesian and have drinks at the bar without a dining reservation?

Hey there Monica, it's great to see you back here at planDisney!

There's something really special about spending some of your Disney vacation feeling like you've stepped into a tropical paradise and for years, guests and locals alike often flocked to their favorite spots for a little bit of island-style eats and hospitality. It seems like once upon a time it was easier for guests to be able to pop by Disney's Polynesian Village Resort for a quick bite at places like Capt. Cook's or Tambu Lounge, a refreshing DOLE Whip snack at Pineapple Lanai and perhaps snag a spot at Trader Sam's Grog Grotto for the evening.

In recent years however, parking security has become increasingly strict about permitting access only to those who are staying at the resort itself or have dining reservations that they can look up to either 'Ohana or Kona Cafe - and have even been observed to go as far as turning away guests just intending to be dropped off with a scheduled ride. Unfortunately I confirmed with Cast Members at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort that the folks working at the booth are only doing as they are instructed and may redirect guests instead to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) before making their way over. Policies are subject to change without prior notice and may be at the discretion of the Cast Members and their leadership so Valet Parking may be a better option for some folks, but with the continued construction of the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows it may be best to play it safe to avoid any disappointment on the day of your visit.

A method that some fellow locals like to utilize is taking advantage of the free parking at Disney Springs and hopping on the complimentary bus transportation available instead to safely make your way there and back again. We've got more transportation tips on the Disney Parks Blog as well as an entire planDisney Podcast episode dedicated to helping guests get around, but don't hesitate to come back once again for any more advice or insights this summer!

Wishing you all the best on your quest to park as close as possible!
