If we are not staying at a Disneyland Resort can we exit California Adventure through the Grand Californian as a short-cut to get to Goofy's Kitchen? And then to return to the park, will we need to go back through the front entrance for re-entry?

    Hi Alice,

Thanks for visiting planDisney. Your group is in luck! Goofy’s Kitchen is such a fun place for a meal! When I took my daughter for her birthday, we got to take a photo with Goofy in his Chef outfit before we were seated. It was a great way to have a quick one-on-one with a character. If you have not made a reservation for Goofy’s Kitchen yet, I highly recommend you do so, as space can book up quickly.

If you will be in Disney California Adventure before your reservation, you can take the special entrance/exit that connects to the Grand Californian in Grizzly Peak. However, keep in mind that Goofy’s Kitchen is at the Disneyland Hotel. If you leave the park through the Grand Californian, you will have to go through security again to get back into Downtown Disney and then exit the Downtown area to the Disneyland Hotel. You can use the same shortcut to get back into Disney California Adventure, but you would have to go through security twice. First, you go through security after leaving the Disneyland Hotel to get into Downtown Disney. Then after walking through Downtown Disney and into the Grand Californian, you have to go through the Grand Californian Security to enter Disney California Adventure.

Hopefully, you don’t feel like Alice following the White Rabbit here. This shortcut is a shorter route, but going through security multiple times might be more of a hassle for your group than just taking the walk to the front entrance. I hope this helps you decide if the shortcut is right for you and your party.  I will admit that I use this shortcut when I am with my sister at the park because we don’t have much to get through security. I have not used this shortcut if I am with my toddler and her Mary Poppins-like stroller. You just never know how many other people are trying to go through security during that time.

Park Transportation Tip: If you happen to be in Disneyland before your reservation, then I HIGHLY recommend taking the Monorail. Taking the Monorail from Tomorrowland takes you to the end of Downtown Disney closest to the Disneyland Hotel. Just be mindful that the Monorail does close during fireworks time, so check the app for the schedule of the train.

Wishing you a magical trip and the best of luck!
