Well hello there Kathy, I'm happy to wish you a wild welcome to planDisney!
There's really nothing like spending the day at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park to witness all of the wonders of nature, or even enjoying the immersive theming found in the sights and even
sounds of Harambe through that authentically African vibe that surrounds you while you're there. I personally think that there's no better place to continue that storytelling after your theme park day than at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge where you're planning to feast at
Boma - Flavors of Africa!
You might be happy to discover that you can take the complimentary
Walt Disney World Resort Bus Service to get there located just outside the exit of Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park and to the left; there's a dedicated bus that will take you to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge within a matter of minutes and
you don't have to be a Resort Hotel guest to use it! (The irony however, is that it's one of the furthest Bus Gates compared to other Disney Resort Hotels so be sure to ask a nearby Cast Member in case you can't quite see it right away as you make the trek over.)
You're absolutely welcome to schedule a ride with the pick-up area being directly opposite the Bus Gates over to the right beyond the exit of Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Be aware that this may be subject to change without prior notice, but the friendly security team should be able to direct you to where you can meet your driver. For a bit of a closer spot, folks and families may choose to take advantage of
Disney Minnie Van Service (at a bit of a higher price in my experience), with some added comfort and reassurance that you won't get hassled on the way into Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge by Parking and Security Cast Members who have been significantly more strict over the past year about asking for proof of a Resort Hotel or dining reservation before gaining access - even when just being dropped off.
While you're at Boma, I do have a number of additional tips and strategies as a frequent fan and fellow feaster:
- The different buffet menu items are arranged in various stations and though the Cast Members who serve us each time carefully remind diners that there isn't a line, folks just tend to queue up for the roasted meats anyway. I've observed every time that this tends to happen in waves, so it's best to keep an eye out for the moment it dies down - and you may be rewarded with some freshly grilled items!
- Whether you call it "Jungle Juice" or "POG", I take any opportunity to have that delicious combination of Passion Fruit, Orange and Guava whenever it's available to drink!
- Be sure to save room for dessert; the fabled Zebra Domes are precious enough to be purchased on their own elsewhere but here you can fill up to your heart's content like a voracious meerkat and warthog chowing down on some grub.
And don't forget - after dinner, be sure to take a quick look outside to see if you can spot anyone wandering the savannah in the evening!
Wishing you delightful dinner on your upcoming Disney journeys!
