Welcome to planDisney, Patricia!
I admire you for not having a smartphone. I've been trying to spend less time on my phone recently and I'm a much happier person (and a better dad and husband) when I do so. Whenever I'm on vacation, especially at The Most Magical Place on Earth, I try to stay off my devices as much as possible. This allows me to truly rest and be present in the moment.
Having a smartphone enables you to download the
My Disney Experience Mobile App, which is a handy tool for any Walt Disney World trip. Not only does it allow you to see current wait times for the attractions, but it also gives you the option of using
Disney Genie+. This service enables you to select Lightning Lane entrances at over 40 attractions throughout the Theme Parks (including Millenium Falcon: Smuggler's Run). These entrances allow you to skip the regular standby lines and get on the attractions quicker. With this app, you can also purchase
Individual Lightning Lane entrances, which are available for some of the more high-demand attractions (such as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance). The downside, of course, is that you end up being on your phone a lot.
Even so, you'll be pleased to know that you don't need a smartphone to experience the magic of Walt Disney World. You can even enjoy a smartphone-free trip to
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. If you'd like to ride
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance or
Millenium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, then you can simply use the standby lines for these attractions. Since these attractions are popular, I'd recommend getting to Disney's Hollywood Studios as early as possible. If you're staying at a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel, take advantage of the
early Theme Park entry. Head straight to Batuu and go to the attraction of your choice. The longer in the day you enter the standby line, the longer your wait is likely to be.
I hope that's helpful, Patricia. I'm sure you'll have an enchanting trip.
May the Force be with you.
Mike
