There are not more reservations online available for the first week of January, can I still buy them at the gate?

    Hello there, Marcela!

A warm welcome to planDisney. We're delighted you've stopped by with an exciting Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning question! It sounds like your trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth is just around the river bend. While you count down those last couple of days, let's take a peek at theme park admission requirements and availability together!

Marcela, did you know that, beginning January 9, 2024, Guests with date-based theme park tickets will no longer need to make theme park reservations? At the time of writing, when I check the Theme Park Reservation Availability Calendar, I see full availability for all four theme parks throughout the entire month of January 2024. When I click through the theme park ticket purchase process on the Walt Disney World Resort website, the calendar shows full theme park reservation availability through January 8, 2024, but does not show availability past that date. Marcela, that's because January 9, 2024 marks the first day of the updated theme park reservation policy! If you'll be purchasing a date-based One Park Per Day ticket from the Walt Disney World Resort website for a date after January 8, 2024, you'll select the theme park you'd like to visit on that day during your ticket purchase. After that, no additional action is needed - you're set to enjoy the magic and wonder of the theme parks!

If your trip spans the week that theme park reservations will no longer be required, but the requirement will still be in place during part of your visit, you'll still need to make theme park reservations for the park days that fall on or before January 8, 2024. Marcela, I walked through the booking process to see what this ticket purchase experience should look like. It appears that you'll purchase your multi-day theme park tickets as you usually would, and will then need to make theme park reservations after your purchase is completed. To make these reservations, hover over the "My Disney Experience" tab and select "Theme Park Reservations." Next, tap "Make or Modify Theme Park Reservations." On the next screen, select "Book Park Reservation" and follow the prompts to reserve theme parks for each ticketed day through January 8, 2024. If you encounter any difficulties, you're always welcome to reach out to the friendly Cast Members at the Existing Tickets phone line for additional assistance!

Marcela, your visit overlaps Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. Will you be running, spectating, or just visiting at the same time by happy coincidence? Though I won't be participating this year, it's one of my favorite times to visit the Walt Disney World Resort. It's important to note that you may experience road closures and minor operational changes during race mornings as runners make their way through the theme parks and on the roadways that connect them. Therefore, if you'll be staying on property, I encourage you to rely on Disney Resort hotel transportation when possible, and allow a little extra time to commute to the theme parks in the morning!

I hope you've found this information helpful, Marcela! I wish you a vacation filled with magical moments and theme park thrills. If you have any additional questions before or during your trip, feel free to revisit us at planDisney anytime. We're here to help you make the most of your time at The Most Magical Place on Earth!

    Warm wishes,

    Lauren
