I do not want to purchase a magic band. How do I get a magic card and is there a cost for them?

Welcome to planDisney, Jackie! Thanks for coming by with your question en route to the Most Magical Place on Earth. Next stop: vacation!

These days, should you forego the purchase of new MagicBands, you have a few options to do things like redeem theme park admission, unlock your resort room door, and charge purchases to your room.

First, if you have MagicBands from a previous visit, bring those along; be sure they're marked "Active" in your My Disney Experience account, and you're all set. I hear the battery on these lasts several years, so if you've vacationed with us relatively recently, this is a convenient way to go.

Without a MagicBand, you'll want to use a Key to the World Card to redeem theme park admission, link Disney PhotoPass images, unlock your resort room door, and charge purchases to your room. The Key to the World Card functions exactly like a MagicBand and is available free of charge at the front desk of your resort hotel. These complimentary cards are adorable and feature some of our favorite Disney friends like Daisy Duck, Pluto, and Goofy.

I hope this is helpful as you continue to plan for and dream about your upcoming adventure, Jackie! While you count down the final days until the magic begins, I recommend following the Disney Parks Blog and finding planDisney on social media. There's so much excitement coming to the Walt Disney World Resort this year, and you'll want to be prepared for all of it. Thanks again for stopping by, and have a great, big, beautiful tomorrow!
