Is it or is it not a good idea to travel alone with 2 children ages 9 & 4? I'm nervous about this, but it seems it may be my only choice? I don't plan on renting a car, will stay at AoA and will use Disney's Magical Express.. any tips?

    Hi Glorian!

If ever there was a place that was used to parents traveling solo with their kids, its Disney. Here are some suggestions:

    * Plan ahead - talk about the trip - let your kids be involved in the planning & pick out some must dos.
    * Set some rules & let them know them in advance.
    * Travel as light as possible & make your kids responsible for their own luggage.
    * Walk around & familiarize yourself with your resort. Make sure your 9 year knows your room number.
    * Bring snacks to the parks to cut down waiting in line.
    * Bring something to keep them entertained in line.
    * Allow extra time for everything & take breaks.
    * Eat at Table Service Restaurants when possible. This will give you some time to relax.
    * Get your 9 year old a cell phone or 2-way radio just in case you get separated.
    * Have a plan of action in the rare event you get separated. Take your kids up to a Cast Member & show them their Name Tags. Tell them that Cast Members wear different outfits depending on where they work but all of their name tags look the same. Tell them that if they get lost they should go to the nearest Cast Member in that area & let them know. Disney is great about reconnecting Lost Parents with their kids.
    * Put an ID bracelet (or something) on your 4 year old with your cell number on it.
    * Make sure your kids know to keep the doors locked in your room & that they should never leave or open the door without your permission.
    * Ask for help if you need it. Cast Members (& other Guests) are generally great about lending a hand.
    * BREATHE. Use this as bonding time for you & your kids so be silly & have fun.
    * Use the Moms Panel with any other questions - we're hEAR to help!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison
