If I do not have enough DVC points can I pay for the remainder of the points needed for our vacation? We may have 400 points by Oct 10-15, 2027 but will need a 3 bedroom for a special trip. Preferably at BayLake Tower.

Hi Tanya, welcome home and welcome to planDisney! A 3-bedroom grand villa at the Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is a great way to celebrate that special occasion with friends and loved ones. Luckily, being a Disney Vacation Club Member offers you the flexibility to use your Vacation Points how you want so let’s talk through how we can make this happen!

According to the point chart for Bay Lake Tower, you’ll need approximately 540 Vacation Points for the 3-bedroom villa at Bay Lake Tower for your October stay. So, you’ll be short a decent amount of points. Here are some options at your disposal:

    • One-Time-Use points. DVC Members can purchase up to 24 One-Time-Use points direct from DVC. Just as a reminder, these points can only be used in the 7-month booking window. While this amount is certainly not enough to book this DVC Villa, each little bit counts! You can also use it in combination with the either of the options below as well.
    • Vacation Points transfer. If you have close friends or family that are also DVC Members (perhaps even those in your traveling party), you can have them transfer Vacation Points to you to fulfill the booking. With point transfers, just be aware that Vacation Points transferred in retain their Home Resort priority, Use Year, and expiration. You’ll also need to contact Member Services to conduct the point transfer and to use those transferred Vacation Points.
    • Cash reservation. You can try to book the remaining days through a cash reservation. Bookings generally open 11 months prior to your anticipated check-in date. In order to make a cash reservation, you’ll have to contact Member Services. Don’t forget to inquire about any available Member discounts!

Tanya, I hope these options give you some ideas on how to make this special trip happen! If you have any further questions on making the most of your DVC membership, please feel free to contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!
