I do not like dressing up. Is formal wear required? I don't want to pack extra clothing and shoes for a party of 7. Why is it necessary? And can we opt out?

Hi Gabriela! The Disney Cruise Line ships are elegant ships and a lot of guests really enjoy dressing up one or two nights (depending on the exact cruise you are on, there might be both a formal night and a semi-formal night). There will be special photo opportunities with and without Disney characters; for example, Mickey and Minnie will be dressed in formal wear for part of the night as well. However, you do not need to dress up. We had a family reunion on board the Disney Magic in November, and my brother refused to come down to dinner dressed up for formal or semi-formal night. He just wore nice pants and a polo shirt. He wasn't the only one and Disney did not ask him or anybody else to leave. However, most of the guests will be dressed up in the dining rooms; you will even see a few tuxedos! If you don't want to dress up, and feel you might feel out of place in one of the regular rotational restaurants, you can always go to the buffet on the top deck or to the Quick Service locations. My guess is most guests who don't want to dress up do that or order from room service, which is free on the Disney Cruise Line (you just need a couple of dollars for the gratuity). I hope this helps! Enjoy sailing on the Disney Cruise Line. My cruises were the best vacations I have ever had! Write back if you have any more questions!
