Hi, Katherine! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
I always bring some
Disney gift cards with me when I visit the Walt Disney World Resort. I like to give each of my kids a gift card prior to our trip, and they know that is their souvenir budget for vacation. If you are not using a
Disney Dining Plan, Disney gift cards can be used as payment at most dining locations.
Although Disney gift cards can be used at dining locations, I can understand why you might not want to carry gift cards with you while visiting the Walt Disney World theme parks. That brings me to one of my favorite things about
MagicBands. They eliminate the need to carry a bunch of extra things with you. It is so convenient to simply tap your MagicBand and enter your PIN number to make a purchase. I love not having to fumble for my wallet every time I need to buy something.
On a past visit to the Walt Disney World Resort, I asked a Cast Member at my resort hotel if I could link a gift card to my MagicBand as a form of payment. The Cast Member told me that only a credit card could be linked to my MagicBand to make purchases. However, if you stop by the front desk of your
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel the day before you check out, a Cast Member can use your Disney gift card to pay off the balance that you charged to your room using your MagicBand. As policies like this are subject to change without notice, I would just recommend that you speak to a Cast Member at your resort hotel to make sure that this is still the case.
See ya real soon!
Samantha
