I was not aware that I am not able to add the Disney insurance after I made my final payment. Now what do I do? What other options do you suggest? I just spent over $15000 on this vacation!

Hey howdy hey Julie and welcome to planDisney!

I bet you and your travel party are getting so excited for your big trip coming up in a few short weeks. There is nothing like picking out the right hotel, figuring out how to navigate the parks, your dining reservations and now just waiting for your big day! There often is so much planning and excitement that some things like travel insurance details do get lost in the mix of all the other more exciting aspects of your trip but don't worry, I have a few suggestions for you.

As you have recently found out, Travel Protection Plan can be added to your trip at any time until your final payment. Considering we are within that range, you still may have other third-party options available. There are many other third-party insurers such as Allianz Travel and USI Affinity Travel Insurance Services that offer travel insurance options that might apply to your situation. You also might want to try to reach out to the company that you have your car and home insurance with. Some companies such as AIG and Allstate also have travel insurance products available or they may know a great place to look for affordable rates. The hard part from here is making sure to read and understand the policies as they are not all made equal and might have very specific rules on dealing with Covid-19 or other things such as how much you would be reimbursed for whichever issues arise. So still is possible to have your trip insured with a little digging.

The other thing to give you peace of mind is the cancellation and changing dates of travel process with the terms and conditions of your vacation package. First off with cancelations. If you did need to cancel your trip anytime from two days to 29 days before your date of arrival you are only penalized a $200.00 cancellation fee. Anything less than the two days you would not be given a refund. Changing your dates of travel on the other hand is much easier to do. If you did change your dates of travel less than 30 days prior to your arrival date, you are charged only a $50.00 change fee. If you do change the dates to a more expensive time of the year, you will also be charged the difference in the prices as well. If needing either of these options, you would have to call Disney at (407) 939-1936 and a Cast Member will be able to help you through this process.

Good luck with your continued planning and I hope I gave you some practical steps to take from here to give you that extra piece of mind for your trip later this month. We cannot wait for you to Be Our Guest and spend some time in the Most Magical Place on Earth. Let us know if you have any further questions.

    Happy planning,
