    I was not aware that the Mickey balloons could be deflated to bring home on an airline, sadly leaving ours behind. Can they be purchased and shipped deflated?

    Hey there Cassie, and welcome to planDisney!

    I was just as surprised and delighted as everyone else to discover that there's a place at Orlando International Airport where folks can have their beloved balloons deflated, but it sounds like you're wondering whether this is something that can be done from the Most Magical Place on Earth! I floated around to do a bit of research into whether something like this is possible and here are a few insights that I was able to glean from Cast Members:

    • The balloons that you might find around Walt Disney World Resort property are sold by Rubio Arts Corporation - an Operating Participant vendor that is partnered with Disney that also provides things like the popular Silhouette Portraits and decorated parasols in Magic Kingdom Park. I reached out to them directly and they let me know that while Cast Members in the theme parks may not necessarily be trained to deflate balloons, they also let me know that it is very possible to carefully do so yourself - but you might want to ask the balloon vendors for any pointers they may have to minimize the risk of popping. (Unfortunately at the current time, guests are unable to purchase balloons pre-deflated.)
    • Though the Cast Members at select merchandise locations and Disney Resort Hotels may often be able to ship purchased items home with a receipt of your purchase, there are certain items that they cannot accept. Luckily however, there are Business Centers found around Walt Disney World Resort with packaging and postal services that you can take advantage of to ship what you'd like.
    As a child I remember how devastating it was the first time I had to leave my beloved balloon behind, but as I got older it was just nice to appreciate the fleeting time we had with my floating friend. Here's hoping this help you find a way to send a flattened piece of this magic home!
