Are all non virtual line rides actually have to physically stand in line?

Hello, Barry. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question.

Since the reopening of Walt Disney World last summer, the FastPass+ program has been suspended. With the exception of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance where you have to join a virtual queue to enjoy, each attraction only has the standby queue open and you do have to physically wait in line to enjoy. You can find the wait times for each attraction on the MyDisneyExperience app or posted outside the entrance of each attraction. Because the Walt Disney World Theme Parks are still limiting capacity, the wait times for attractions are not bad. In fact, I've noticed that the wait is actually running about 10-15 minutes quicker than what you can find listed at this time. Right now, to promote physical distancing, there are markers in the queues to keep parties more spaced out. This will give the appearance of a long queue but it actually moves rather quickly.

If you are concerned about waiting in long lines during your vacation, I highly suggest arriving at the Walt Disney World Theme Parks as early as possible. My family and I always try to arrive around an hour prior to park opening. This gives us plenty of time to park, go through security and temperature screenings before heading off to our first attraction of the day. To keep Guests more physically distanced at this time, the parks are letting Guests in prior to the park opening time. This fans people out throughout the park without having everyone grouped up together at the entranced. I am always amazed at how many attractions we are able to cross off of our must-do list before lunchtime when I feel like the parks are their busiest. Around that time, I always like to head back to the Walt Disney World Resort Hotel that I am staying at for an afternoon swim. I don't love waiting in long lines so I look forward to taking a break each day. In the evenings, right after dinner, is when I like to return to enjoy any attractions I may have missed in the mornings. The closer it gets to park closing hours, the shorter the lines get again.

Barry, I hope this helps answer your question. If you have any others before your vacation, please feel free to come back and ask me. I'm happy to help. Enjoy!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
