Is there a nighttime safari ride at Animal Kingdom? If so, how far in advance of our trip can we purchase tickets?

    Welcome, Emily!

We are thrilled to hear from you again here at planDisney. Thank you for stopping by with your question about Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. I hope you are having a wonderful time planning your next Walt Disney World Resort visit.

My son is determined to be a Disney veterinarian at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, so Kilimanjaro Safaris is one of his most requested attractions each trip. We have found that the best times to experience it is typically first thing in the morning, later in the afternoon, or after a nice afternoon rain. Did you know you have the chance to view up to 30 different species on each safari tour? While I agree a nighttime trip would be neat, the last tours of the day typically happen before sunset.

If a nighttime safari is what you're looking for, I suggest the Starlight Safari offered at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. This tour, for Guests 8 years old and older, is open to all Guests of Walt Disney World Resort, for an additional fee, and can be booked up to 60 days prior to your visit. You'll be able to climb aboard one of the safari vehicles and will even be given a night-vision device to spot the African nightlife. It's exhilarating!

If special animal encounters make you go wild, there are several others in the Enchanting Extras Collection. With Caring for Giants, you'll get a closer look at the African elephants that call the savanna home and learn how they care for them. Another popular experience is the Up Close with Rhinos Tour where you get to go backstage to see and hear about the park's white rhinos. Last, I have to recommend the Wild Africa Trek. Talk about a VIP animal experience! This 3-hour tour takes you on an adventure throughout the savanna and animal habitats and is full of close encounters. It's truly a one-of-a-kind experience!

Have a fabulous trip, Emma. If there is anything else we are able to help you plan, please come see us again soon. In the meantime, happy planning.

    Magical Wishes,

    Lauren
