Hi Alison, and welcome to planDisney. Thanks for sending in your question.
It is great to hear that you are thinking about spending some time at the
Most Magical Place on Earth during your Orlando stay. Walt Disney World is made up of four theme parks, two water parks, and a massive shopping and dining area called
Disney Springs, so there is no shortage of things to do. The fun part is figuring out what feels right for your group.
You really cannot go wrong with any of the four theme parks. A lot of the decision comes down to what you and your fourteen-year-old are most excited about.
Magic Kingdom is a must-do in my book. It is the original park, packed with nostalgia, thrills, classics, and plenty of great places to grab a meal or a quick snack. There is something about starting a trip by walking right down Main Street USA that just sets the tone.
If you are planning to visit more than one park or park hop,
Hollywood Studios would probably be next on my list for a group with a teenager. The ride lineup is strong. Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Slinky Dog Dash, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance can fill a day quickly and keep everyone smiling.
EPCOT is fantastic too, especially with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Test Track, and Remy's Ratatouille Adventure. Just keep in mind that a good amount of time is also spent exploring World Showcase, which I love, but some teens may be more focused on the rides. Then there is
Animal Kingdom, which is an experience all on its own. Kilimanjaro Safaris, Expedition Everest, and Avatar Flight of Passage are all top-tier attractions.
The truth is, there really is no wrong choice here, Alison. Spend some time looking through the Walt Disney World website for each park to see what speaks to you. Let your vacation style guide you toward the parks that match your interests.
And once you narrow things down, swing back to planDisney like Tarzan through the jungle and
send me another question. I will be happy to help you plan out dining, Lightning Lanes, or anything else you need.
