On the nights that Fantasmic is not shown, is there a character meet and greet that happens instead? I thought I read that somewhere, but now I can't find the information again. Thanks!

Hi Roland! Over the past few years Disney has really worked and tweaked the great Fantasmic show at Hollywood Studios. It is a hugely popular destination for the guests and the logistics can be tough. Getting them in and out without long irritating waits is a first concern so they added the dining packages to split the crowds and lines. This has helped.

Fantasmic is a show with great lighting and fireworks and special affects so it needs to be done after dark. During the summer when it stays light longer the show needs to be late or not at all.  Disney looks at the calendar and crowd estimation to decide if it needs to be shown every night or even twice a night. If you see  it is not shown on a specific day it also might mean a special private function will be taking place in the park after hours so the park closes early.

There doesn't appear to be anything in place of it at this time when it isn't showing. But the good news is that they just released the word that they are going to begin construction on adding more seats to the amphitheater where the standing room only area was located. This will make even more guests happy when they can find a seat!
