Welcome back to planDisney, Sharon.
This is a great question! The Candlelight Processional is one of my favorite Disney things during the
Christmas season. This has been a
Disneyland Park tradition ever since 1958! The show lasts about 45-minutes and involves a musical retelling of "The First Christmas" story. There are usually songs by a mass choir and selected readings from the Bible (as a pastor, I'm secretly hoping they'll ask me to read one year). The show also involves a celebrity narrator (I'd also be willing to do this if they get desperate)! Last year, I was able to enjoy the Candlelight Processional at EPCOT in Walt Disney World Resort. The singing was so magical and it really ushered me into the Christmas spirit.
Unlike the Candlelight Processional performances in Walt Disney World Resort, which are held multiple times throughout the entire Christmas season, Disneyland's Candlelight Processional is typically held twice a night for two nights (so four performances in total) in the first week of December.
I spoke to a Cast Member today who was able to confirm that there has yet to be an official announcement about when or whether the Candlelight Processional will return this year. Typically, seating for this event is reserved for invited Guests only. You can't reserve tickets, wait in line, or purchase dining packages for any of the performances. Sometimes, Guests who are willing to wait for hours in Town Square can get a decent view of the show. But the Disneyland performances are certainly more "private" than the ones at Walt Disney World Resort.
I hope that's helpful information, Sharon. I wish I had a more definitive answer for you. In the meantime, I'd recommend you keep an eye on
Disney Parks Blog for any exciting announcements. Thanks again for stopping by
planDisney.
TTFN, ta-ta for now!
