Greetings, Diane!
Welcome back! Thank you for continuing to seek our advice on planning a magical vacation.
With a 15 night stay and 14 days worth of theme park tickets, you do have the time built in prior to your first day at a theme park to acclimate to the weather. The best part about a Walt Disney World® Resort vacation is the flexibility to use your tickets as you'd like. You definitely do not need to start visiting the parks on the first day. Here are a few additional tips:
• Arrive early and utilize Morning Extra Magic Hours as much as possible if staying at a Walt Disney World® Resort hotel.
• Leave the parks during the hottest part of the day, usually between 2-5pm. Return to your resort for a dip in the pool, or relax in your room. Then, return to the theme parks for the nighttime festivities.
• Stay hydrated! Have plenty of water available in your resort hotel room. You are able to bring water into the parks with you. Make sure everyone has a bottle of water to start the day, they can be refilled at one of the many water fountains in the parks.
• Cooling towels. These towels are available online or at sporting goods stores. They can be chilled with cold water and worn around your neck to keep you cool.
• Catch a show! Walt Disney World® Resort offers several shows that are indoors, allowing you time to cool off. My favorites include Mickey's PhilharMagic, Carousel of Progress, Spaceship Earth, Festival of the Lion King and
Finding Nemo The Musical.
I hope this help, Diane! As a Southern Panelist, I've learned a lot over the years about acclimating to the heat, so please let me know if you should have any additional questions.
