Hiya, Stephen!
As a fellow Disney Vacation Club Member, I'm happy to welcome you to planDisney. As my Home Resort,
Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa holds a special place in my heart, so I'm excited to hear that you'll be staying there during your upcoming visit. Over the last year or so, the Resort has undergone some pretty extensive renovations, including the refurbishment of all its Deluxe Studios and Villas. While I haven't stayed in these rooms since they've been updated, the pictures look
beautiful and I can't wait to check them out for myself during a visit later this year –– based on what I've seen, I think you're going to love it!
One of my favorite parts of booking a Disney Vacation Club stay is that most things can be done online, including
making Waitlist requests and modifying existing reservations. To create a Waitlist, hover over the "Plan a Vacation" tab on the Disney Vacation Club website and select
"Book a Vacation" from the drop-down menu. On the next screen, input your travel details and click "Check Availability". From here, tap the arrow next to the room type you'd like to Waitlist and under the calendar, click "Continue to Waitlist". Continue following the onscreen prompts to select your Waitlist terms and enter details for members of your traveling party, then click "Submit Waitlist Request" to finalize your selection. If you need to modify your Waitlist at any time, you can do this by visiting your
Member Dashboard in the "My DVC" section of the website.
For me, the most important thing to keep in mind when creating a Waitlist is choosing the expiration period. While choosing the 7-day option might give you a better chance of having your Waitlist request fulfilled (especially during busier seasons), it's important to remember that if your Waitlist requires fewer Vacation Points than your original reservation, any surplus Points from a reservation that is canceled 30 days or less in advance will be placed into a
Holding Account. Once those Points have been placed in Holding, they can't be banked, they can only be used to make reservations 60 days in advance, and they automatically expire at the end of your Use Year. Since the Vacation Points are the same for each room you're considering, this shouldn't be an issue for this particular reservation, but it's just something you'll want to be aware of for the future.
Thanks for stopping by planDisney, Stephen. I hope this helped to answer your question, but if you think of anything else, please feel free to visit us again –– we're always here to help!
Happy Planning,
Amy
