We are going on the 11 night European cruise in June 2011. I have booked excursions for each port of call. What happens if we choose not to go on the excursion? Are we charged anyways? Or, do they only charge at the time you go? Thanks for your help.

    Hi, Carol!

Congratulations on your upcoming cruise on the gorgeous Disney Magic throughout the Mediterranean -- I'm living vicariously through you for that voyage!  You are smart to plan out your Port Adventures in advance and to book them through Disney Cruise Line (DCL).  Should plans be altered by DCL or the tour operator, your shore excursions are guaranteed, and you'll either be refunded the price or provided with suitable alternative arrangements.

I've never had to cancel my Port Adventures. Therefore, I called DCL to make inquiries and talked to Paul.  He was incredibly knowledgable and happy to help us! He said that Port Adventures appear as shipboard charges. Therefore, your form of payment which covers your stateroom account will be charged for your various Port Adventures.

Paul also said that if you change your mind about your plans at the ports of call, you need to notify DCL at least 3 days prior to sailing (not the Port Adventure), and you will be able to make changes without penalties or fees.  After that time, you will need to pay for the Port Adventure in full -- regardless of whether or not you choose another DCL shore excursion. I hope that clears things up for you.

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
