Three Generations Aboard Ship

I am going on a 3 night cruise on the Magic during the Silver Anniversary at Sea? Is there a Pirates Night on the sailing? Is the Anniversary fireworks show on the 3 night sailings? I read somewhere that those fireworks will only be on 4 nights or longer.

Ahoy there Christina, and welcome back to planDisney!

Can't you believe it's almost five years since your first Disney cruise? It's so great to have fellow seafaring folks like you come back to visit us as you prepare to set sail once again on the Disney Cruise Line fleet! This year is extra-special as they prepare to commemorate the Silver Anniversary at Sea over select summertime sailings complete with special celebrations for a limited time only.

From the sounds of it, you'll be setting sail on one of the 3-Night cruises departing in May and September at the start or end of the special Anniversary sailings. While preparations are currently underway and planning is ongoing, there is currently a limited amount of information officially released about the specifics on what to expect on board. However, I had a chance to speak with a Crew Member currently on board the Disney Magic and hopefully you'll find the following to be useful to you:

    • You can expect there to be an evening filled with Fireworks soaring from the ship into the night sky, signature to most Disney Cruise Line itineraries. More likely than not during your particular voyage, this will take place during Pirate Night at the end of the "Pirates in the Caribbean" Deck Party. As you might have noticed from your previous sailings, the ship is required to maneuver into a designated area in open water away from land in order to launch fireworks within a specified time frame which is all regulated and monitored by maritime authorities. In fact, there are strict regulations in place for the amount of pyrotechnics that may be carried on board a passenger vessel, which even may make it necessary for them to be completely released before returning back to the home port. (This may play a big part in the reasoning why this may only be a possibility on 4-Night Cruises or longer.)
    • However, you'll still be able to enjoy a special Captain's Reception on one of the evenings of your cruise where you're likely to be sprinkled with some magic (perhaps even literally) following a special Anniversary toast by the master of the vessel and an appearance by Captains Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse in their silvery, shimmery best! Keep an eye out on your Personal Navigator for this evening, as you may be able to enjoy some signature limited-time drinks and desserts to sip and savor while you sparkle in matching anniversary outfits
As with anything on board, be aware that this may all be subject to change without prior notice. Personally, I can't believe that 25 years has gone by already; when I think back to my first cruise, it makes me feel like a grandmother dropping a necklace into the ocean after so many years. But for this year and many more to come, I hope you come back again to planDisney to ask me any more questions you might have to prepare for your future voyages on the horizon.

Here's to your upcoming Anniversary Adventure that I'm sure will be just as magical!
