On a 3 night Baja cruise from San Diego how will guests travel from Catalina island / Ensenada to the ship? What unique things does Disney Wonder have compared to other ships? Also how does daylight savings affect cruise?

Ahoy, Cassie, and welcome to planDisney! The Disney Wonder will always hold a special place in my heart – my family's first cruise was aboard this amazing ship, and we even sailed the same itinerary that you'll be enjoying soon! Let's make sure you're ready for embarkation day.

As you mentioned, Cassie, your cruise will stop at both Catalina Island and Ensenada. At Catalina, the ship typically anchors just outside the harbor, and you'll board a tender boat. It's approximately a 10-minute ride between the ship and the island. In Ensenada, the ship docks at the Ensenada Cruise Port Village, so you'll walk down from the ship to visit the town.

When leaving and re-boarding the ship, be sure to always bring your Key to the World card. Guests ages 18 and older should also bring a photo ID.

When you're not exploring a port city, you'll be able to enjoy everything the Disney Wonder has to offer. Like all Disney Cruise Line ships, you can expect rotational dining, onboard activities, Broadway-style shows, pools, and more.

Here are a few of the standout features unique to the Disney Wonder:

    • Tiana's Place is a Main Dining restaurant found only on this ship. My kids love the live jazz music and upbeat atmosphere. When we sailed, there was even a parade with the band, servers, and Guests!
    • The ship also has some great lounges. Near Tiana's Place is the French Quarter Lounge, which continues the New Orleans theme. My husband especially likes Crown & Fin Pub, which feels like a cozy British hangout. This is our go-to spot for a little adult time when the kids play in the Oceaneer Club.
    • You'll notice theming from "The Little Mermaid" in areas of the ship, especially in the atrium where a bronze statue of Ariel greets Guests. Nearby is Triton's, another exclusive Main Dining restaurant that carries the theme.
    • Entertainment in the Walt Disney Theatre currently includes "Frozen, A Musical Spectacular," "Disney Dreams – An Enchanted Classic," and "The Golden Mickeys." While these shows aren't exclusive to the ship, it's a fantastic mix.
Another thing that makes the Disney Wonder (and its sister ship, the Disney Magic) special is its smaller size compared to other ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Many Guests, including myself, find these ships especially charming. They’re easy to navigate and the atmosphere feels more intimate, which is wonderful for first-time cruisers and families with young kids.

As for Daylight Saving Time, any adjustments will be fairly seamless. Just listen for onboard announcements and check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for any notifications about the time change.

Before we say goodbye, I want to mention one more thing: It looks like your cruise is scheduled to have Pirate Night on Day 2, so pack a pirate outfit and get ready for some swashbuckling fun!

Cassie, I hope these details help you prepare for your Baja Cruise. If you think of any other questions, please reach out – we're always happy to help here at planDisney.
