Hi Andrea,
Welcome to planDisney!
With the food allergies that your niece has, you will be pleased to know that the Walt Disney World® Resort has a deep commitment to meeting guests'
Special Dietary Requests. Given the sheer number of restaurants, the possibility that menus can change, and the allergy to oils that your niece has, it is best that you
email the Special Diets team to discuss your niece's specific allergies. You can share with them details about the specific oils and other foods that your niece cannot have. Contact them no sooner than 14 days prior to arrival.
As you continue to plan, 1) Review the menus of each dining location you plan to visit - just go to the restaurant's web page and click on View Menu - for example, view the
Be Our Guest Lunch Menu and scroll down to see the allergy-friendly options, 2) Make advanced dining reservations indicating the food allergies, and 3) Speak with the chef at each restaurant before placing your order.
While both of our girls have food allergies, one of them has four significant food allergies including peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, and soy. With the menus that show allergy-friendly options and the ability to speak directly to chefs at dining locations, we have been able to make sure she has foods that she can eat. Perhaps most important, she can find food that she enjoys
and is safe.
I will also strongly suggest that you make
advanced dining reservations. We prefer to dine at Table-Service restaurants with a cast member who serves the table. Cast members can communicate with the chef and/or the chef comes out to talk with us prior to ordering our food. Also, on prior visits, if there has been nothing on the menu that our daughter can eat, they have been able to provide alternatives. We try to avoid this situation, however, by reviewing the menus before we decide where to dine!
Andrea, I am happy to see that you are researching allergy-friendly options prior to your visit. I can also say that we have been quite pleased with the ways cast members have helped us find food options for our girls. And although I will say that we understand that, at any restaurant anywhere, there may never be a 100% guarantee that foods will be allergen-free, we have appreciated the Disney chef's detailed questioning and knowledge of food ingredients on all of our prior visits.
I am sure your niece will be grateful to you for helping her to have a wonderful and safe visit!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
