10/ngt @ Beach Club, family of 5 (2 adults, 17, 11, 5) in June. Planning on 4-5 character meals, eat breakfast a couple days in our room, bringing snacks into the parks, the rest mostly QS, a few T. Is the basic dining plan of $2300 cost efficient?

    Hi there Shelley!

I've experienced traveling to Walt Disney World on the Disney Dining Plan and sometimes we've visited without it. On the basic plan, I really enjoyed not having to set price limits with my children prior to our meals as well as the peace of mind that all of our food costs (minus gratuities) were covered prior to our vacation even starting.

However, especially on a shorter trip, there have been occasions when it was nice to not have such a set schedule of table-service reservations as the time involved for each sit down meal can really take a bite (pun intended) out of your park touring itinerary.

So, I'd say other than your budget concerns, the decision to add the dining plan to your reservation really comes down to your family's approach to vacationing. If everyone would be satisfied with yogurt and OJ from your guest room fridge in the morning as you head for Extra Magic Hours then, the plan may not be worth the added expense. However, if dining at a relaxed pace and enjoying several character meals during your trip is of high importance, than the dining plan will certainly save you money over your 10 night vacation.

No matter which option you choose, you're certain to have a delicious Disney day! Thanks so much for visiting us here at the Walt Disney World Moms Panel and feel free to send more questions my way!
