Next year, WDW and I will be 50! I'm planning a quick b-day weekend trip with my 17 yr old son for April. What would be a nice restaurant for my son and I to go for a b-day dinner? We are staying in the Contemporary (on my bucket list!)

Hi there Tracy! Thanks for stopping by planDisney to chat about your upcoming vacation.

How magical is it that you will be celebrating your 50th year together with Walt Disney World? I love that you will be commemorating the occasion with a stay at Disney's Contemporary Resort, which, along with Disney's Polynesian Village Resort opened its doors to guests for the October 1, 1971 grand opening. Just recently, I fulfilled my childhood dream of staying at Disney's Contemporary Resort, and it did not disappoint! Walking to the Magic Kingdom Park and watching the monorail glide by the Contempo Café while grabbing my morning coffee were two of my favorite things! I know your visit will be just as magical. Be sure to let the Cast Members know about your special celebration and pick up a birthday pin at the front desk or Guest Relations. You never know when come pixie-dust will fall your way!

Enjoying a special birthday meal with your son sounds practically perfect in every way. My absolute favorite place to spend a special evening is the California Grill - located at the tip-top of your resort! The views from this restaurant are spectacular, and the cuisine is top-notch. From sushi to steak to dessert, prepare to be wow-ed by the chef's creations. While fireworks shows are not currently part of our world, if Happily Ever After returns before your visit, you'll want to coordinate your meal with this nighttime spectacular for an extra special birthday treat!

Another option for a dinner with a view is Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera at Disney's Riviera Resort. The sweeping panoramas of the EPCOT resort area combined with delicious French and Italian-inspired dishes make for a memorable evening.

If you're looking for a special dining experience in a theme park, I like Le Cellier Steakhouse in EPCOT and Be Our Guest Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom Park. No matter where you choose to dine, be sure to tell your server that you, just like Walt Disney World, are celebrating a big birthday!

In addition to a meal, consider having a Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake delivered to your resort hotel room or participating dining location. The cakes are delicious and will keep nicely in your in-room refrigerator. Leftover birthday cake is a perfect snack when your tummy is rumbly after a day in the theme parks!

I hope this gives you some ideas for celebrating your big day in the Most Magical Place on Earth. Come see us again if there is anything else we can do to make your vacation more memorable.

    See ya real soon!
