Next year we will be traveling with a 1 y/o and an almost 3 y/o (short by a week). For the dining plans, I would just order one for myself&hubby? When scheduling character reservations I include the children in the count? Do I make note for high chair?

Hey there, Lucy! Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. There’s nothing like planning a family vacation to Walt Disney World and the Disney Dining Plan will make your vacation so easy!

In short, you are correct! Since both of your kiddos are under the age of 3, they do not need a plan. However, they can share from an adult plate at no extra charge or you can order an additional meal from the menu wherever you and your husband decide to dine. In fact, we’ve always found that the Cast Members are happy to bring out a small side plate for sharing with your little ones.

When making reservations, you’ll want to include your kids in the count. This way the Cast Members can work their magic in advance and get you a larger table. Some reservations may not have the ability to request a highchair, but don’t worry! If that’s the case, just let the Cast Members know as you check-in for your reservation and they’ll take care of your entire family.

Okay, so now that we have the basics set, where are you going to dine!? Depending on the Dining Plan that you’ve selected, might I suggest a few of my favorite spots? At Magic Kingdom, Be Our Guest Restaurant is unforgettable. At EPCOT, Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria is a must. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, try my new favorite, Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. And finally, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Yak & Yeti™ Restaurant is hard to beat!
