Hi, on our next trip we would like to make reservations at the Blue Bayou (Disneyland). Would you suggest lunch or dinner and why? I also heard you should be on the dining reservation site at midnight 60 days prior to ensure reservations. Is this true?

Hi there, Pamela! Welcome to planDisney. Blue Bayou is such an iconic dining spot. I have so many memories of dining there as a little girl and now as an adult. While you can’t go wrong with either mealtime, I’d love to explain which one I’d pick if I were making a reservation.

Nestled within Pirates of the Caribbean, it’s no wonder this restaurant has such a unique setting. No matter the time of day, you’re always immersed in its signature twilight ambiance. Now, in terms of the menu, there is one key difference between lunch and dinner. The lunch menu features the Monte Cristo sandwich, which is always a Disneyland favorite, while the dinner menu does not. If that's on your must-try list, lunch is the way to go! There’s something nostalgic about that combination of fried, sweet, and salty that has me preferring lunch over dinner. Otherwise, the lunch and dinner menus are very similar, so you can simply choose the reservation time that best fits your park plans.

When making dining reservations, Guests can book dining up to 60 days in advance. In my experience booking my must-dine restaurants, I’ve seen reservations become available around 6:00 a.m. Pacific Time, but sometimes as early as 3:00 a.m. Pacific Time. My best advice is to set an alarm for both times just in case, and make sure you’re logged into your MyDisney account on the Disneyland app or website. If you find that you weren’t able to snag a reservation at your preferred time, fear not! I’ve often had luck checking for reservations frequently and even trying the walk-up list for popular locations.

Pamela, thank you so much for visiting planDisney! I hope this helped you decide what time of day you'd like to dine at Blue Bayou. If you have any more questions or need recommendations for other great dining spots around the parks, planDisney is here for you!
