On our next trip we were planning on trying the Wild Africa Trek. My concern is the weight limit for this event. The description says that there is a 300 lb weight limit with the harness on. I can't find any where that lists the weight of the harness.

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Peggy! I just toured the Wild Africa Trek for the first time in January and it was amazing! We actually were able to watch Tuma, the Mama Nile Hippo laboring in a shallow pool as we crossed the rope bridge.

Cast Members at check-in did indeed weigh each member of our tour on a small scale, and were extremely private about the reading on the scale. They didn’t even show the person that was being weighed, but I snuck a peek. The measurement was not announced, displayed or public in any way. I can tell you that I weight myself at home, so I know my personal weight within 1-2 pounds and the scale reading was higher than that. The best I can figure is that the scale was zeroed out with the weight of the harness on it, so that the “total” weight is presented to the Cast Member’s eyes only.

When I had a chance to remove my harness and hold it in one hand, it felt about 5-7 pounds. This, of course, if my unofficial measurement, but it certainly wasn’t 10 pounds and was more than 3. Rest assured, if anyone in your party exceeds the with-harness weight, they will be fully refunded. If you have other questions about the Wild Africa Trek or any other aspect of your WILD vacation, please let me know. You’ve got a friend in me! ~ Lindsey P.
