Hi Linda,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question.
The answer to your question depends on how flexible your vacation dates are. If you’ve already purchased your airfare, or you definitely can’t change your dates for some other reason, then I would highly recommend booking a room at either
Disney’s Pop Century Resort or
Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort (both are great options since their rooms have recently been refurbished) for your dates. If your dates are still relatively flexible, you can choose to wait a bit longer, though I wouldn’t really recommend it. I tend to get antsy if I don’t have a confirmed reservation for an upcoming vacation that I know I’m going to take!
Plus, if you make a room-only reservation for either one of these
Disney Resort Hotels, you’ll need to pay one night’s deposit but, based on the typical cancellation policy, you should be able to get that deposit back if you cancel your stay at least 5 or 6 nights before your scheduled arrival date. You should therefore be able to cancel your stay in either Resort, without penalty, if your Disney Vacation Club waitlist reservation comes through or if a new
Special Offer is released for your vacation dates. That being said, please check the email confirmation that you'll receive to know exactly what kind of
cancellation policy applies to your reservation.
Please don't hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions. We’re always happy to help!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
