The next time we come to WDW we want to visit Disney's Old Key West Resort. How far of a walk is it from DD to OKWR and how do we do that? Or is there a boat we can take from DD to OKWR? Where do we get the boat to OKWR? Thanks!

    Hi, Judy!

We love Disney's Old Key West Resort, so I can see how you'd like to take a peak during your next visit to Walt Disney World!

The best way to visit OKW from Downtown Disney is, of course, by boat. Once you arrive at Downtown Disney, head to the Disney Vacation Club Ferry dock near Rainforest Cafe at the Marketplace, where you'll be able to take a boat to Old Key West. Keep in mind that Downtown Disney is currently undergoing a multi-year renovation, so one of the three current docks at DD may close from time to time, relocating departure / arrival from one to another. If in doubt of the location of the proper dock, check with Guest Relations, located right next to Team Mickey Athletic Club, near Ghiradelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop, both of which are easily located on the map in the link provided. Ferries typically run every 20 minutes.

Perhaps you could book a dining reservation at OKW's Olivia's Cafe and sample Conch Fritters or, my favorite, Olivia's Shrimp Pasta (Yum. I think I need to revisit OKW again...). No time for a Table Service meal? Grab a drink at Gurgling Suitcase, where you'll also find a limited selection of items available from Olivia's.

Once you've enjoyed the charming, laid-back atmosphere of the resort, either take a DVC ferry back to DTD or hop onto a bus to take you to either DTD or your WDW park of choice. Buses depart from right there...Hospitality House, so your tour couldn't be any easier.

    Have fun exploring, Judy!
