I am a newly single parent. Going to Disney in November for 4 nights. Fourth time going but first time just me and my 5 year old son. Any tips? We r staying at the yacht club.

    Hi Suzanne!

Wow, it is so awesome that you and your son are going to take a Walt Disney World vacation together this November ! I am a single Dad as well, with a 16 year son and we have been vacationing in Walt Disney World together since 2007.  I think that I can give you some tips. There are lots of family rides and shows in Walt Disney World that you both will enjoy so do your research to determine what rides or attractions that you both will enjoy.  I would recommend using the family restrooms (there are lots of these in the parks).  Also because you are staying at the Yacht Club Resort, you will have access to Stormalong Bay (and incredible swimming pool) which I am sure your son will love if he enjoys the water.  I would let your son help plan your days in the park, such as letting him decide where he would like to eat or the rides that he would like to ride. I typically do the planning, but lately I give my son a day at the end of the vacation to be "his day" where he gets to choose everything. If your son is really interested in something, then you can make more time to examine and discover it.

The bottom line is that I have found Walt Disney World to be the absolute best place to take your children for vacation, especially if you are a single parent! There are several other Single Parents on the Moms Panel so please keep asking us Moms and Dads your questions as you plan your Walt Disney World vacation for you and your son!

I hope that you and your son make some magical lifetime memories together on your November Walt Disney World vacation!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
