hi there newbie here , I am traveling to disney with my wife and 2 1/2 year old on the 20th of june and its all our first times in florida. Its my 40th birthday on the 1st of july and wanted to know what we could to special to mark the occasion.

    Declan:

Sounds like you'll be celebrating a milestone birthday on your trip!

Get your creative juices ready to celebrate and browse Disney's site to customize your celebration. There, see all Disney has to offer from simply getting your birthday button--which I highly recommend that you wear at all times for optimum pixie dust--to ordering a special cake.

Dining at Disney is typically how my family celebrates. Consider treating yourself to a sunset dinner at California Grill atop the Contemporary Resort for a spectacular view of the property. Children are welcome. Get there early and request a window table. You can also splurge at nearby Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian and take in the Magic Kingdom's Wishes fireworks display. You can leave your table and head to the the restaurant's large veranda to watch the fireworks and listen to the accompanying music.

If you have your heart set on "marking" the occasion, consider getting a hair cut from the Harmony Barber Shop . I've seen mohawks, temporary hair dyes and even Mickey heads painted on customers! At the very least, it's fun and the whole family can get their hair cut and leave with your hair dusted with confetti to let everyone know you're celebrating. Make reservations at 407-939-7529 if you don't want a wait.

Wishing y'all a magical vacation and memorable birthday!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
