Being a Newbie to running I am very interested in the Tower of Terror 10-Miler. Is it uncommon for participants to Run/Walk if necessary-as long as keeping within pacing requirements? Dreaming of *Magical* Miles!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Amy!

I am excited to hear you are interested in participating in the 2014 Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror 10-miler. This nighttime race event is entering its third year and is sure to include more thrills and chills then ever.

It is absolutely acceptable to implement a run/walk strategy. In fact, it is encouraged by the official runDisney Training Consultant and Olympic runner, Jeff Galloway. By using Galloway's run/walk method not only will you be able to avoid possible training injuries, but your finish time could potentially be faster then if you tried to run straight through. Additionally, this program reduces muscle fatigue, allowing you to enjoy yourself post-race while celebrating at the Disney Villains Hollywood Bash.

There are also downloadable, race-specific training programs available for free on the runDisney website to help ensure your success.

I hope this information has been helpful, Amy. I use the run/walk method myself, so please do not hesitate to ask any additional questions you may have. You will not be disappointed in your decision to run Disney.

    Happy Training!
