Is New Year’s Eve celebration at Epcot a separate ticket event ? Or can you get in with a normal ticket/park reservation?

Hi there Stephanie and welcome to planDisney!

If there’s one day of the year that I feel closer than ever to my fellow Walt Disney World Resort guests it's on New Year's Eve, both figuratively and literally as the crowds pile in for this very popular evening full of festivities. You'll be happy to hear that there is currently no additional charge nor separate ticket required in order to enter EPCOT on New Year's Eve in order to enjoy the celebrations like Cheers to the New Year: A Sparkling Celebration with some of the most spectacular fireworks over the World Showcase Lagoon.

Depending on the type of Theme Park admission that you'll be using, you may be required to make sure that you have a valid Theme Park Reservation for select ticket types which could be tricky for such a popular day. (Also note that certain types of Annual Passholders are subject to blockout dates that occur on December 31 every year.) On the bright side, this does mean that it's quite easy for most guests looking to ring in the new year to simply purchase a ticket for EPCOT for that date but in my experience it does make for a very busy night that you'll want to prepare for if crowds aren't your thing.

One of the biggest draws of Special Event Tickets and the additional cost for limited-capacity experiences like Disney After Hours is the way that it does tend to limit the amount of other folks and families in attendance for a chance at lower waits, and there's no telling whether separately-ticketed New Year's Eve offerings at EPCOT may be something that guests can purchase in the future. Be sure to keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog leading up to the holidays this year but if there's anything I highly recommend, it's making sure that you do enter earlier on the 31st of December and perhaps pack an extra pinch of patience before enjoying a night packed with some of the greatest music and revelry at Walt Disney World Resort!

Here's to the celebrating the New Year in style!
