What is there to do on New Year’s Eve 2024?

Well hi there Lynette, it's great to welcome you back here at planDisney!

Can you believe it's been about a decade since you first came to our team looking for answers from the Panel, and I'm glad to see that you've come back to Walt Disney World Resort time and time again for more tips and advice throughout the years. I'm happy to continue the tradition and help you with ways to ring in 2025 at the end of this very exciting year full of new Disney Experiences:

    • By far the most popular thing for many folks is to celebrate New Year's Eve with fireworks at midnight, either at EPCOT or Magic Kingdom Park. On this particular evening the theme park operating hours are often a bit later (last year both parks were scheduled to remain open until 1:00 A.M. as crowds of revelers made their way out en masse), and you'll find yourself surrounded by thousands in what I've observed to be the busiest night of all throughout the entire year!
    • Over in EPCOT, you can party the night away with dance parties found throughout World Showcase; last year revelers packed into China, Italy and Japan to enjoy themselves to the beat of loud music with pyrotechnic displays, lasers, smoke and even bubbles! (In the case of the United Kingdom pavilion, a silent disco dance party saw guests queuing up for their chance to dance along with a special set of headphones.) This is definitely where it seems that most of Walt Disney World Resort congregates to ring in the New Year with guests and Cast Members alike, so be prepared for significantly heavier crowds and longer waits for offerings around EPCOT - I observed as Spaceship Earth posted a wait of 55 minutes in its standby queue and long lines for restrooms throughout the evening as everyone eagerly awaited the epic fireworks to come at midnight.

Meanwhile, though Disney Springs typically posts a closing time well before midnight for many of its stores and locations, some restaurants and hotspots like The Edison may host special events and locations at Disney's BoardWalk can be a great alternative to the theme parks. Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for offerings and experiences yet to come for this year, or even some exclusive specially-ticketed New Year's Eve happenings!

    Here's to a terrific 2025!
