With the new WDW AP… is the ‘start’ date still the day you activate the pass, or does it coincide with the date of purchase?

Hello, Neroliza! Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney!

That collective cheer you heard at the beginning of this month came from the joyful Guests who had been patiently waiting for Walt Disney World Annual Pass sales to resume. And what a return it was! We have all new pass levels, some new Passholder Extras, and an adorable look that celebrates the 50-year history of the Walt Disney World Resort.

But while there have been changes to the Annual Passholder program, there are still plenty of things that didn't change, including how start dates and expiration dates are determined. When you purchase a Walt Disney World Annual Pass, it isn't activated until you use it to enter a theme park. At that point, you'll have one year from your activation date until the pass expires.

Also, keep in mind that if you'd like to renew your Annual Pass when your magical year is up, you can do so up to 60 days before and 30 days after the expiration date.

Neroliza, I'm so excited that you're thinking about joining the Annual Passholder family! With The World's Most Magical Celebration kicking off on October 1, there's a whole year of magic in store for you!

I hope this helps you plan your Disney days, Neroliza. Please be sure to come see us again if you have any more questions. We're always here to help!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
