Hello, I am a new vice president. I'm interested in booking a hotel at disneyworld with my family. How do I do so?

Caroline, welcome to planDisney, and congratulations on your recent promotion! Your hard work is paying off, and I’m sure you’ll be great in your new role! I see you want to vacation with Disney’s Commander-In-Chief, Mickey, on an upcoming Walt Disney World Resort visit and need help picking the perfect Disney Resorts Collection hotel for your family. I would happily share all the intel I have gathered over the years and point you in the right direction. Winston Churchill once said, “Plans are of little importance, but planning is essential,” so let’s get to vacation planning, shall we?

There are over 25 hotels that make up the Disney Resorts Collection portfolio, spanning from budget-friendly options to luxurious presidential suite-like accommodations, so you are guaranteed to find something that will fit your needs and budget. These hotels are broken down into categories and are as follows:

    • Deluxe Villas (rooms are slightly larger than Deluxe Resort rooms, have a kitchenette, and are available in 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom villas).
    • Deluxe Resort Hotels.
    • Moderate Resort Hotels.
    • Value Resort Hotels.

The more budget-friendly options will be found in the Value Resort Hotels category. Of the options available, I enjoy Disney’s Art of Animation and Disney’s All-Star Music Resorts because of their Family Suites (rooms with a separate bedroom and living space, kitchenette, and two bathrooms). Disney’s Art of Animation is also located on the Disney Skyliner, connecting you to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT, making getting to the parks super easy and fun.

In the Moderate Resort Hotel category, I am drawn to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. Not only does it make me feel like I am on a tropical vacation during my non-park days, but it is also on the Disney Skyliner route. Banana Cabana may also be one of the best pool bars on Disney property, in my opinion. Disney’s Port Orleans—French Quarter is also a fantastic option for the delicious Mickey-shaped beignets alone.

The Deluxe Resort Hotels are a great option, not only because of their elegance and uniqueness but also because of their proximity to the theme parks, most within walking distance. My personal favorites are Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa for the peaceful walk to and from Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Beach Club Resort because of the sand-bottom pool, Stormalong Bay, and the ability to walk to the International Gateway entrance to EPCOT. Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is definitely an added bonus. If you are looking for a little more space, separate living, and sleeping areas, the luxury of a full kitchen, or an in-unit washer and dryer, the various Deluxe Villa Resorts featuring 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom accommodations will be your best bet.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction with your Disney vacation planning, Caroline. Once you select your hotel, ask me a question if you would like additional assistance with theme park ticket options, Genie+, top attractions, and my go-to restaurant suggestions. I’d love to help you continue planning your visit to The Most Magical Place On Earth!

    See you real soon,
    Brent
