Being new to vacationing at Disney, I am curious if you would recommend us driving to the parks or taking the buses from our DW Resort?

    Hi Laura,

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question.  It is so exciting to plan your first Walt Disney World!

My family prefers to drive to the theme parks when we are at Walt Disney World, even if we are staying at a Walt Disney World resort.  Our reason for this is simple: we are impatient!  We want to go where we want to go immediately when we want to go!  All over Walt Disney World, you will find great signage.  You can get pretty much anywhere you want to go by following the signs; no need to learn street names or learn directions.  We also love the perk that as a Walt Disney World resort guest, you do not have to pay for parking at the theme parks - simply be sure to display the parking pass that you are issued at your resort.

That said, I do understand why many people choose to use Disney transportation.  When you use Disney transportation, you do not have to worry about driving at all, to anywhere at Walt Disney World.  A lot of guests like to take a break from driving on vacation, and I totally understand that.  Also, Disney transportation runs frequently and from early in the morning until late at night, so the next bus is never too long a wait.  Finally, there are some places where the transportation itself is a good time: a ride on a monorail or leisurely boat ride is a lot of fun.  Depending on which resort you are staying at, there may be options to take these directly form your resort to a theme park.

I hope that this opinion helps, Laura.  Have a great time planning your first vacation to Walt Disney World, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
