When will the new tram drop off at magic kingdom be completed

Hiya, Tom! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort will be here before you know it, and I’m so, so excited for you!

My family just returned from a magical week at our favorite place, so I’ve got some fresh observations and information about the refurbishment going on at the Transportation and Ticket Center. The refurbishment, which will provide much-needed shade for Guests waiting for trams, as well as more capacity for arriving Guests, began in the Spring and is still going strong. Currently, this means that the tram that takes Guests from the parking lots to the bag check and ferry and monorail loading location is dropping off in a different location, resulting in a longer walk between tram drop-off and boarding the ferry or monorail.

I checked with a Cast Member, who told me they don’t have a projected completion date for the project at this time. Based on my experience last week, I doubt it will be complete by your visit, especially with holiday schedules. My best advice is to keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for announcements – they’re also a great source of the latest news about the theme parks, resorts, and Disney Springs.

Tom, we often have a car when visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, but we almost never drive to Magic Kingdom Park. I just find it easier to take the bus from our Disney resort hotel to Magic Kingdom Park, because parking, plus the tram ride, plus the ferry or monorail takes time and can be frustrating and time consuming. If you’ll be staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, I recommend using the complimentary bus transportation when traveling to Magic Kingdom Park.

If you’ll be a day Guest, the Cast Member I spoke with had a suggestion for you. His advice is to have the driver drop your party at the Transportation and Ticket Center drop-off location, then park the car and meet the Guests at either the ferry, monorail, or inside Magic Kingdom Park. Be advised that to drop-off, you’ll need to take the left ramp toward Seven Seas Drive rather than entering the Magic Kingdom Park parking plaza. You should see signs for Guest Drop-Off; just follow those.

I hope that helps you figure out the logistics for your upcoming visit to Magic Kingdom Park, Tom. For what it’s worth, we did park at the Transportation and Ticket Center a few times last week, and I didn’t think the walk was too bad. The path is clearly marked and there are helpful Cast Member stationed along the way. Plus, I can’t complain when my day contains a visit to my favorite theme park. After all, Mickey, Dole Whips, and epic adventures are waiting!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
